This album took us over four years to assemble. Not that we worked on the music that whole time, but so much happened in our lives in that time, from intense work projects, to travel, babies, health issues, and so much more stuff that you file under "LIFE!"

This is the first album where we wrote the entirety of the record in the studio. No writing took place at home, no writing took place in rehearsals. We'd set up the mics, get ready to record, and then start writing.

Every song was written and recorded in one day, with overdubs, vocals, and some lyrics coming later. The first song, "I Wasn't There," was the first song we wrote and recorded. The second song was the second, etc. For each song we asked- where should the album go from here? What do we like in a first song? Ok now that that's written, what do we like in a second song? All the way through to the end.

The album, as you will hear, begins loud and intense, with upbeat lyrics, for the most part, and then as it progresses, towards the last third, it becomes more somber, and more distant, as it fades out into the night. We both like albums that do that, more-so that albums that keep rocking till the bitter end, so we crafted this album to be exactly the emotional arc that we like to hear in other people's albums.

But the music and lyrics are totally Pillow, and carry on in the manner we have become quite good at for over a decade. We think you will enjoy taking this journey with us. It took many revolutions around the sun to complete this record. You'll hear it in a half hour. But hopefully you'll hear the journey that went into it too.
